Checkout and Download to an iPad

Note: This process works in Safari. It may work in other browser apps such as Chome, but functionality has not yet been tested in anything other than Safari.

First, download the Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) app to your iPad from the app store. Once installed, open the app and go into the Settings menu. Authorize the device by logging into your Adobe ID account. If you do not have an Adobe ID you will need to create one.

Then, visit our library homepage and search for the title you wish to check out. Click into the title’s record by tapping the linked title from the results list. This takes you to the title’s Ebsco record page where you will need to sign into Ebsco at the top of the screen with your Ebsco account. If you do not have an account you will need to create one.

Once logged into Ebsco with your Ebsco account, locate and select the Download This eBook (Offline) option on the book's record page. This will pop up the window you see below. Go ahead and click on Checkout & Download.

At this point, you should get a second pop-up that will have the Adobe Digital Editions logo icon, and a file size, then at the bottom of the box it will have an Open in “Digital Editions” link. It should look like this:

Click this link and it should open the ADE app. Since you have previously authorized the app with your Adobe ID, it should automatically download the title. If necessary, refresh the app from its menu.

A note about the checkout lengths for titles: Checkout length may vary from title to title, depending on where we have purchased our access to the title. If you run out of time on a title you’ve checked out and want more time, just grab it again the next time you access the internet.

As always, feel free to contact us for any questions, assistance, or concerns.
